"We always wanted to..."

Perhaps the greatest affirmation that Aliyah was the right decision for us came when we announced to our friends and family that we had decided to make the move. So many older couples and families told us of their lifelong dreams of making Aliyah, and all the things that held up their plans: "We didn't have the money, we had kids, we though we'd try again the next year," and so on. Especially once we found out Aliza was pregnant, we knew that if we didn't make Aliyah when we did, we might never again have the opportunity. Or worse, the opportunity would repeatedly present itself and we would be too comfortable in our lives to take advantage.

If you're feeling good about making Aliyah, that's fantastic. Use that. Deciding to uproot your entire life and lech l'cha to a land you do not know is not an easy decision. We found that the more we worked on our application essays and developed our personal narrative, the more excited we got. The best thing you can do for yourself is to ride the wave.

Also helpful are the videos Nefesh b'Nefesh puts out. This one was particularly inspiring: Aliyah Down the Line

Shabbat Shalom, chevre!
